On the Western Slope, we are in a behavioral health services "desert", with provider shortages and access barriers to needed services. As some of you may have been aware, recently our communities faced unexpected challenges when a local behavioral health provider, Integrated Insight, closed its doors, leaving a significant gap in access to services. Given the role Integrated Insight played in not only our healthcare system but many others, this loss was a threat to the well-being of over 1,400 individuals. Following the unexpected closure of Integrated Insight, we were so grateful for the invaluable assistance extended to us by Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), who came through in a major way, when supporting our community was the priority. Under the leadership of Patrick Gordon, RMHP's support helped us quickly respond through an expansion of our existing behavioral health services. Their swift action and generous contribution have been instrumental in ensuring the continuity of care for patients during this challenging period, and has reaffirmed our shared commitment to the well-being of our community. The importance of preserving and enhancing behavioral health services in rural communities cannot be overstated. Our collective efforts have not only safeguarded access to essential care but have also reinforced the resilience and strength of our community.
