HISTORYOlorado UTE INDIAN MUSEUM Ute Fun Fact The Ute people would construct moccasins made out of sturdy buffalo hide, while deer or elk hide was used to make the "uppers" of the moccasins. Hair of the animal hide was left on & worn against the skin inside of the moccasins & the "uppers", to help insulate & keep their feet warm during the cold winter months.
