Debbie Reed So, another story... ...that will have you shaking your head in disbelief. I was emptying the dishwasher one morning and had a bundle of silverware in one hand. One of the forks started to drop from my hand, and I was trying to juggle and grab it before it hit the floor. One of the fork tines made a direct hit on the side of my calf and the fork was stuck sideways into my leg! I took a couple of steps and it dropped out to the floor. How was I to know it had hit a vein, until blood started running freely from my leg into my shoe?? I grabbed paper towels to act as a pressure bandage, but couldn't walk without a lot more blood running. When my husband came into the kitchen while on a phone call, I heard him yell, "I have to go! Debbie's bleeding all over the kitchen floor!" After he brought me my first aid kit, a fast compression bandage, a shoe emptied of blood and the floor mopped (twice!)- all was good!
